How to Become an Avon Representative
Starting an Avon business of your own is a great investment! You can earn $1,000 in your first 90 days when you meet sales goals set out for new representatives by Avon. You can continue to earn as your business grows. Below, I've answered some frequently asked questions about becoming an Avon representative.
- How much can you earn as an Avon Rep?
- Avon representatives earn a guaranteed 40% commission on their first order (no matter the amount). After that, you will earn 40% commission on your next 6 orders when you meet Avon's sales goals for new representatives. These first 7 orders are called the Kickstart Program. Once you have completed Avon's Kickstart Program, your commission will be based on the amount that you sell every 2 weeks. The sliding scale commission is:
- $0-$149.99 = 20% commission
- $150-$299.99 = 30% commission on all Beauty and Jewelry; 20% on Fashion and Home
- $300-$499.99 = 35% commission on all Beauty/Jewelry; 20% on Fashion and Home
- $500+ = 40% commission on all Beauty/Jewelry; 20% on Fashion and Home
- Commission from 45-50% is available for representatives in Avon's President's Recognition Program. These are representatives who sell $10,000+ in one cycle year. These representatives receive a guaranteed minimum 40% earnings for the entire next year.
- You can earn money by selling Avon face to face; by selling Avon online; and by building and mentoring a team of Representatives. I recommend that all representatives take advantage of earning through all 3 of these avenues
- About selling Avon
- Selling Avon is simple! We take our brochures around for 2 weeks (and share our e-store) and collect orders. It is highly recommended to collect full payment at the time your customer places the order. You will be responsible for paying Avon for the products before they are shipped to you. We submit a bulk order, telling Avon what we need to fill customers' orders. You will submit payment to Avon for the wholesale cost of the products. Avon ships the products to you, and you will be responsible for delivering them to your customers.

- As a busy homeschooling Mom, this is huge to me! I do not have the flexibility to meet an employer's schedule. With Avon, I am able to work when and where I choose, when it fits my family's routine.

- How you get paid
- The pay with Avon is strictly commission, and is based on your sales each 2 week campaign (see How Much Can Your Earn above). When your customer places an order and you collect their payment, they will be paying you the brochure price for their items. You will pay Avon the wholesale cost. The difference is your commission, which you keep...you will not receive a check from Avon. For example: if you sell $300 worth of products, you would be at the 35% commission level. You would pay Avon $195 (the wholesale cost) and keep $105 as your commission.
- If you earn commission from a customer who ordered from your e-store or a cash payment from an incentive program that Avon is sponsoring, you will be paid via a pre-paid card mailed to your home, or via Direct Deposit that you can set up online.
- How much it costs to sign up to be an Avon Rep
- The fee for an Avon starter kit is $25, with the option for an upgraded kit. The kit includes full size product demos, samples, sales tools, and guides to help you get started.
- How much it costs to run the business
- You will need to purchase brochures every 2 weeks to hand to your customers. These are around $7 for 10 brochures or around $22 for 100 brochures (the price per brochure decreases with the purchase of higher quantities).
- You will pay a shipping fee for each bulk order. This starts at $6. You can recover this fee through the Order Processing Fee charged to each customer. Most representatives set this at 75 cents per
- customer, but some representatives adjust it to cover their costs.
- You have the option to purchase Avon branded sales tools, delivery bags, advertising materials, and more, but these are not required.
- You are never required to keep any inventory.
- Process of signing up
- Signing up is done completely online, and only takes about 5 minutes! Sign up online by entering your information in Avon's form, choose and pay for your starter kit, and you're ready for business!
- As soon as you sign up, you will be assigned an account number that you can use to set up your online Avon e-store. Your starter kit will be delivered to your home in 3-5 business days.
- What it’s like to be an Avon Rep
- Being an Avon Rep is lots of fun! I love beauty and fashion products, and I've been using Avon products for years. As an Avon representative, I get to try out the newest products (at a discount!) and share my favorites with my family and friends. I get to meet lots of new people around the country..who doesn't love making new friends?! But best of all? I get to earn money to support my family, while remaining at home caring for my husband and children, and doing something I love!
